Villagers Cry Out Over Incessant Robbery Attacks

Residents of Gishiri village have decried the incessant robbery attacks in the village and called on the commissioner of police to rescue them from the hands of armed robbers.
A source from the village said robbers recently stormed the area and held the villagers hostage for some hours.
The source said the robbers attacked house by house and stole phones, computers and gadgets.
"The robbers, numbering five, stormed different houses and attacked them with dangerous weapons. It was a sad experience as the police could not come to our rescue until after the robbers had left," the source stated.
The source hinted that they had since reported the incidence to Mabushi divisional police station.
But when contacted, FCT police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel, denied the recent robbery attacks and maintained that based on the constant complaints of robbery incidences in the area, police have raided the area several times.
"No robbery of such magnitude was reported to us, but I can tell you that the FCT police raided those notorious dark spots in Mabushi last weekend because of the incessant reports from the residents. Areas like Gishiri, Jahi, behind Tipper Garage and Nepa Quarters, all in Mabushi, were all raided, and suspects totaling over 124 were arrested during the raid," she stated.
