There was a drama at an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Dei-Dei when an accused person fainted after being rebuked by the judge for giving a wrong statement.
The accused responding to a suit filed by his
neighbour, one Muktar Bello, for visiting his wife without his consent, had
told the court that he visited her once instead of twice as later disclosed by
the wife of the plaintiff.
Muktar Bello had dragged two of his neighbours
before a Grade 1 Area Court in Dei-Dei for allegedly visiting his wife
unlawfully at her family house where she had relocated after a strained one
week-old marriage.
One of the accused, Shu’aibu Ibrahim, informed
the court that he only went to Bello’s wife on one occasion in an effort to
reconcile them, the claim which the woman herself refuted when the court asked
of her respond.
She said, he visited her on two occasions; once
on her invitation.
The second accused, Kabiru Plumber, informed the
court that he was at the family home of the married woman because of her
daughter whom he seeks to marry but the position was also faulted by the
husband, who informed the court that it was not true, as the respondent, had
since withdrawn his interest on the daughter.
The court was in disorder when one of the accused
fainted after being rebutted by the judge, Jamilu Abdulqadir, for giving a
wrong statement in the court.
The accused Shu’aibu Ibrahim was immediately
rushed to a clinic at Dei-Dei for medical attention.
Judge Jamilu Abdulqadir, reserved ruling in the
case till October 24, due to the condition of the accused, who fainted during
the sitting.
