Three Student Leaders Killed: In Auto Crash after Honouring Mimiko

News from Guardian---- Three Student union leaders lost their lives yesterday in an auto crash on their way from Abuja, where they had gone to celebrate with Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who was honoured by the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) as Governor of The Year.

Mr. Wale Adelakun, a former Student Union leader, who spoke to The Guardian on telephone, said the students were returning home after the award was conferred on the governor, when the bus they
were travelling in had an accident along the Akure-Owo Expressway
According to Adelakun, the three students are: Awopegba Adedapo of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Akinola Abiodun (Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, and President of the State’s School of Nursing and Midwifery.
It would be recalled that the governor was, last week, honored by the NANS as the Governor of The Year last Tuesday.
Minister of Education, Prof Rukayat Rufai, presented the award to the governor on behalf of the national student body.
Details of the unfortunate incident were, however, sketchy as at the time of going to press.
