….movie hits cinemas September 7
Movie premiering in Nigeria took an upward turn last Friday, August 31, 2012 as celebrities, politicians and the Nigerian media stormed the Silverbird Galleria for the premiere of one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Heroes and Zeros.
From the red carpet event which saw A list actors like Nadia Buari, Bimbo Akintola, Yomi Fash Lanso, Nobert Young, amiable politician, Mr. Obanikoro strut the red carpet to the showing of the movie through the materials given as souvenirs, the premiere of Heroes and Zeros will go down in the annals of movie premieres history as one of the most successful movie premieres of the year.
Kicking off at about 6pm with the interviews of the celebrities and VIPs in attendance by top media houses like Soundcity, guests let loose their guards as they interacted freely with the press.
After the paparazzi has taken their shots, guests had drank to their satisfaction, guests were soon ushered into the hall to watch one of the most intriguing movies of their lives, Heroes and Zeros.
The actors, director, writer and producer of the movie did not disappoint as a brilliant treatment of the topical subject matter of the suspense-soaked movie evoked pity and got many of the guests emotional at the rise and fall of the main hero of the movie and was received with a thunderous applause at the end of the viewing.
“Movie premiering in Nigeria is beginning to take shape and look like what is obtained in the advanced nations, the producdrs are now mindful of excellence and success in their premieres as this sometimes go a long way in the success of the movies at the cinemas. And Heroes and Zeros has further raised the stake, everything was on point, I will score the premiere 8 over ten if asked to rate this premiere” Ms. Ajayi, a guest at the premiere said.
Directed by ace director, Niji Akanni, the brain behind brilliant Nollywood flicks like Aramotu and scores of television commercials Heroes and Zeros tells the story of the destructive pursuance of Tonia (Nadia Buari) by Amos Fele (Bimbo Manuel). Amos Fele was a wealthy celebrity director in the Nigerian film industry. Now he lives in a ramshackle flat, doing occasional low-paying TV commercials for nameless products. He’s a daily comic relief on the local soccer practice pitch: because though he’s already 45 years old, he nurses a new, insane dream of making it into the dollar-soaked world of international soccer! His joyless marriage to Tinuke (Tina Mba), a junior bank worker, is crumbling fast, especially after the death of their only child.
A boost to his sagging spirit comes when a big-budget French-Nigerian film project appoints him as director. Suddenly, the press begins to (re)celebrate him. Top actors and producers begin to call him up. To his wife’s distress, Fele also quickly re-establishes his wane reputation as a first-class womanizer.
Fele becomes obsessed with Tonia, a ravishing beauty and lead actress of the Nigerian-French film project. Ignoring the warnings of his best friend, Nnamdi (Norbert Young), a psychology professor, Fele pursues his obsession with Tonia to its tragic conclusion. Heroes and Zeros employs a multi-narrative technique which saw the movie being narrated from three perspectives.
The movie will be in cinemas across the nation from Friday, September 7, 2012.
