Pastor Cries & Pleads For Divorce-"My Wife Refuses To Live With Me"

An Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State Customary Court president, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, has dissolved the 19-year-old “mere association” between a pastor, Samuel Adeniyi and his wife, Bunmi.
Delivering judgment, Ojo said that neither of the parties was interested in making their relationship work for the sake of their children.
“The defendant had always displayed lack of interest in the relationship by her refusal to move in with the plaintiff in spite of several pleas,’’ she said. Ojo ordered the pastor to pay N10,000 on monthly basis for the children’s upkeep and added that the school fees of the children should be a joint responsibility of the two. Earlier, Adeniyi had told the court that his wife refused to support his ministry. “Sometimes in 2009 when I was to be ordained as a full-time pastor, my wife refused to support me and even refused to follow me to the ordination centre,’’ he said. Adeniyi said that his wife refused to move in and live with him in spite of the fact that he requested for and was granted a spacious accommodation by the church authority. “Family members, colleagues and elders in the church, on different occasions, intervened in the issue by pleading with her to move in, but the entire plea fell on deaf ears as she refused to honour my words up till now,” he said. Adeniyi, however, lamented that the church refused to promote him on the grounds that he had no wife supporting him in the ministerial work. Bunmi, who claimed to be a politician, admitted not moving in with the plaintiff in spite of the plea by some co-pastors and church elders. She attributed her decision to the financial incapacity of her husband to cater for her and the three children of the union. She also alleged that Adeniyi refused to pay her bride price and that he did not set up a business for her. Bunmi, however, said that in spite of all these, she regularly paid her husband visits in his apartment.-Nigerian Tribune
