Venus Williams Eases Into Round Two In Japan

Venus Williams made a easy work of Mona Barthel losing four games as she cruised into the second round of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.
The five-time Wimbledon champion - now ranked No 62 in the world - beat her German opponent 6-1 6-3 in 64 minutes.
Venus broke serve six times in all, and made an easy victory by reeling off 13 of the last 14 games. Her reward for seeing off the world No 34 is a second round clash with top seed Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova have both pulled out of the tournament citing tiredness and a right-shoulder injury respectively.-Sky Sport
