President Jonathan's Facebook Friends Doubtful About National Dialogue

A cross section of Facebook friends of President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed skepticism about the success of the proposed national dialogue.

While many of them on the social network welcomed the national dialogue, others believe it was not one of the best ways out of some of the socio-political problems facing the nation. However, they lament that his antecedents raise doubts about the implementation of any recommendations put forward by the National Advisory Committee, which he inaugurated for the purpose of the dialogue on Monday.
Despite explaining that he was “genuinely exploring the option of a national conversation” in response to the yearnings of the people, Jonathan’s Facebook friends accuse him and his predecessors of being notorious with setting up committees without any viable outcomes.

They say, the latest setting up of a committee involving convocation of a national conference may end up as another “fruitless jamboree”.

A particular friend, Orji Jude, label the Jonathan administration as “government of committees” adding that setting up committees without results is assuming an alarming dimension.

Also, Paul Oluwasegun says, “Mr. President Sir, we are tired of your promises; what we need is promise delivered and not all this political propaganda with national conference that will yield nothing at the end of the day. Where is the outcome of Oransaye report today? Definitely in the trash can.”

One Chidi Ohazurike alleges that many past probes and other reports submitted were dumped, with no implementations.
Another friend, Thompson Kay-Dada says with the setting up of the advisory committee, the President may have succeeded in silencing some of his fiercest critics.

“GEJ just wants to keep his perceived ‘enemies’ and outspoken ones busy; his intention is not for Nigerians’ benefit,” Kay-Dada writes. And says he stands to be proved wrong.
