Two Okada Riders Faces Murder Charges In Akure

An Akure Magistrates’ Court remanded two commercial motorcycle riders (Okada men), in prison over alleged murder of a 27-year-old man, Deji Afolabi. Mrs. Florence Adesida, the Magistrate, on September 30, 2013, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). 
 The two men, identified as Folorunso Aliu, 37, and Akinwale Ogunro, 30, residents at Iwaro Oka in Ondo State, are being tried for conspiracy and murder.
Cpl. Adeoye Adesegun, the Prosecutor, had told the court that they allegedly committed the offences with others still at large on 21 August, 2013. He added that the offence took place at Iron Base Barricade (Oju Irin) junction, Iwaro Oka in Akoko North West Local Government Area. According to him, the accused shot the deceased with a gun during a fight between them at Iron Base Barricade (Oju Irin) junction in the area. “The deceased was confirmed dead as a result of the injuries he sustained in his body during the fight.” The Prosecutor noted that the offences contravened the Criminal Code of Ondo State, 2006. The Magistrate has adjourned the case till October 12 for mention. –PM News
