Kidnappers Chop Off Fingers Of Ex-Military Officer, Wife Over Ransom

Anxiety has gripped indigenes of Okpanam in Oshimili North local government area of Delta State, following the kidnapping of a retired military officer and his wife and chopping off of their fingers by the kidnappers.
Major and Mrs. Hypolite Asoya, (rtd)  were kidnapped on Friday, November 29, 2013 by unidentified gunmen.
Although police spokesman, My Lucky Uyabeme, could not confirm the incident, it was learnt that the hoodlums perpetrated the act following the inability of the family of the retired officer to pay the ransom for their release.
It was learnt that the kidnappers violently chopped off a finger each from both captives alleging through their contact that “one of the sons during a telephone conversation allegedly called them thieves, hungry and greedy people”.
