Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, the suspected mastermind behind the April 14 Nyanya bombing, has been arrested in Sudan.
The news was announced in Abuja by Director General of the National Orientation Agency Mike Omeri.
Ogwuche is a UK-born ex-Nigerian military intelligence officer and army defector. He and the other prime suspect, Rufai Tsiga, were declared wanted by the Department of State Security and later by the National Bureau of the Interpol based at the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters for being linked to the explosion that shook Nyanya, suburb of Abuja, and claimed lives of about 75 persons, injuring dozens.
In their video address, terrorist sect Boko Haram have claimed responsibility for the attack, calling it "a minor incindent" and promising more deadly assaults in the future. On the same day, the sect has kidnapped over 200 female students from their dormitories in Chibok town, Borno State. Also, on May 1, another bomb went off at the exact same spot in Nyanya, killing another 19 persons.
Nigeria's law enforcement and security agencies collaborated with security operatives of Sudan to effect Ogwuche's arrest.
On May 12, five other suspects who confessed to perpetrating the explosion were paraded by the State Security Service.
The security operatives are already working to ensure Ogwuche's extradition back to Nigeria.
