New Delhi - A class IX student of a public school in south Delhi was
allegedly gang-rapéd by three men inside a car parked at a ground near
Safdarjung Enclave on Tuesday night, police said.
The 17-year-old survivor was too scared to tell her parents about the
assault but confided in a friend who informed the police around 1am on
Wednesday morning. The accused are on the run.
The girl told the police that the accused Rohit, whom she knew
through a friend, called around 8 pm that evening and asked her to come
out and meet him. The men then drove around in the area for half an hour
with her in the car. They then turned towards the Dussehra ground near
Pilanji village and drove to the parking lot, where the assault took
place.
The survivor said the men dropped her home after threatening her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the rapé.
Rohit and the other two accused, Narender alias Ninder and Tinku, who
was driving, are all residents of Pilanji. Police have impounded the
Verna car used in the crime.
The girl’s friend called up the police, gave them the survivor’s
contact details and told them that she was screaming on the phone while
narrating her ordeal. Cops procured the call details of the number and
the location of the mobile user.
After the girl had reached home, her father spotted her crying and
asked what the matter was. The girl broke down and told her parents
about her ordeal. The parents asked her to switch off her phone and were
contemplating what they should do when police reached the house and
took control of the situation.
The girl was taken for a medical examination and her statement
recorded in presence of an NGO counsellor. Several teams were then
dispatched to nab the accused on the basis of the information provided
by the survivor.
