Maiduguri - At least 37 members of Boko Haram were killed when security forces raided a secret camp of the insurgents at Alagarno Village, near Maiduguri, Borno State.
It was revealed on Tuesday by Aliyu Danja, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the 7 Division.
According to him, the Nigeria Air Force and soldiers of the 7 Division were involved in the operation, which commenced on Monday.
Mr. Danja confirmed that 37 terrorists had been killed and several others had run away with gunshot wounds.
He also added that several Boko Haram members had died during Sunday’s attack on Logomari Village.
According to his words, during the attack, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, the terrorists killed four civilians, destroyed two fuel tankers and snatched an Isuzu pickup vehicle loaded with provisions.
“The terrorists fled the scene on the arrival of troops of 7 Division,” he said.
He also disclosed that Boko Haram had also attacked some members of the Youth Vigilante Group (Civilian JTF), who were returning from a funeral, killed three of them, and set their vehicle ablaze.
“The youth vigilante who escaped however reinforced, pursued the terrorists and destroyed their hideout, killing several terrorists while others escaped,” he said.
