First Time Since 1959 Two Sites In Borno Will Become National Monuments

The FG will declare two sites in Borno state as national monuments as part of 2014 celebration of the 100 years of amalgamation of Nigeria.
The last time a historical site in Borno was granted this status dates back to 1959 when the Rabeh’s forte was declared National Monument, the Coordinator of the National Museum in Borno, Aisha Jidda, said this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit on Governor Kashim Shettima in Maiduguri.
Jidda said the two sites are the Shuhe Tomb in Kukawa, Kukawa Local Government Area; and the Shehu Mohammed El Kanemi Prayer House in Ngala, Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area.
She added that the enlistment of the sites would boost the tourism potentials of the state.
