VIOLENCE: Gunmen Attack Police Station, Kill Three Policemen

Gunmen, yesterday, stormed the Area Police Station in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, bombed it and in the process killed three police officers and one other person.

The gunmen said to have numbered 20 attacked the station around 10 p.m, using dynamite.
They were said to have shot sporadically into air at the Police Station’s gate, scaring away passersby, villagers and students of the state polytechnic, Osara campus which is adjacent the police station.
According to an eyewitness villagers ran into the bush to avoid been victims.
The unlucky villager who died in the attack was said to be visiting a friend who lives near the police station. He was hit by a stray bullet while running from the gunmen.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Romanus Nwaneri, who confirmed the incident said investigation was ongoing on the motive of the attack, stressing that the gunmen were unable to get any weapon from their armory.
