As it was derived from the 3-hour
meeting held at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, the PDP
governors decided that Tukur's leaving his position was the only way to handle
the political logjam in the PDP.
According to the governors, since he
became chairman of the party in 2012, the party has not witnessed peace. They
attribute it to Tukur's administrative style which does not go down well party
members.
It was gathered by the journalists
that the governors decided at the meeting that the North East
geo-political zone of the country which produced Bamanga Tukur should
immediately search for his replacement ahead of the March 2014 mid term Special
convention where Tukur will finally leave as PDP national Chairman.
At the end of the long-lasting
meeting the governors went to Presidential villa for another round of meeting
with President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, and chairman,
PDP, Board of Trustees, BoT, Chief Tony Anenih where they will be briefed on
the decision of the PDP governors.
It will be recalled that since the
election of Tukur along side other members of the National Working Committee,
NWC, the governors have been calling for the sack of Bamanga Tukur over his
style of administration.
Moreover, the 7 aggrieved governors
under the name G-7 were at logger head with the Tukur led National Working
Committee, NWC.
They were the chairman of the
Northern States Governors’ Forum, NSGF, and governor of Niger State, Babangida
Aliyu; Governors Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State; Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano;
Sule Lamido of Jigawa; Murtala Nyako of Adamawa ; Aliyu Wamakko and Abdulfattah
Ahmed of Kwara.
