Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Al-Makura, has stated that the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) was no longer a force to reckon with in Nigeria.
In his opinion, by 2015, there would me no mention of the ruling party in
governance and Nigeria’s political sphere.
Speaking with the newsmen in Lafia on Sunday, Al-Makura declared that the
PDP will soon fizzle out with the defection of some of its members in the state
to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"At the national level, PDP is gone. So what is there to worry
about PDP; it is a spent force. I don’t think it exists," he said.
On the strength of the party in his state, he assured "that by
2015, PDP in Nasarawa will become history. I hope you are aware that Senator
Abdullahi Adamu and nPDP are all in APC, where then is the PDP in Nasarawa
State?"
Commenting on the reports that members of his cabinet may defect to the
ruling party, Al-Makura said,
"There is nothing like defection in my cabinet; it is wishful
thinking of the PDP. If anything, APC is getting stronger by the day as PDP is
sinking in the state."
