Men of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a woman child trafficker, who allegedly stole a one-week-old baby. The police also arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old boy.
Twenty others were arrested for committing other sundry crimes
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Olakpe, while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Jos on Monday, said the police would stop at nothing to rid the state of criminally-minded elements.
The commissioner said one Chundung Labi in connivance with one Elizabeth Zakari, had deceived one Mrs. Juliana Zakari to part with her baby a week after delivery through Caesarian section in Bokkos Local Government Area. Labi had allegedly told Zakari that the wife of the governor was touring the area and had requested to assist her.
Olakpe added that Labi had deceived her husband that she was seven-month old pregnant, and when she took the baby home, she told the husband that the child was his.
He said, “Labi was arrested few hours after at the Bukuru area of Jos after the mother of the baby had raised the alarm.”
Also paraded was 22-year-old Musa Maku of the Dadin Kowa area of Jos south, who allegedly raped a 12-year old boy. Olakpe said the suspect had owned up to the crime and blamed it on the devil.
The police also arrested one Ibrahim Mohammed who allegedly had a marathon sex with one Farida Alhaji that led to her death.
Mohammed was said to have lodged in a hotel with Farida, but left her unconscious in the hotel. Farida was found half dead when the managers of the hotel opened the door. The commissioner added that the woman died on the way to the hospital.
Olakpe, while commending his men for a job well done, promised the state a crime-free Christmas and new year celebrations.
