Senate Describes APC Call For Jonathan Impeachment As "Utter Rubbish"

The Senate has described calls on the National Assembly by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan as utter rubbish.
It was stated by the upper chamber stated this after it rose from an Executive Session on Tuesday. According to the Senate, the call lacks merit and as such, the lawmakers would not consider it.
It would be recalled that the opposition party has recently urged the National Assembly to immediately commence impeachment process against President Goodluck Jonathan for alleged gross misconduct.
A statement by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Jonathan’s removal from office would save Nigeria from imminent collapse.
Reasoning its position, APC said the current administration was a "total failure of leadership", which sits on top of “insecurity, unprecedented corruption, impunity, massive unemployment and hunger in the country.”
However, Senate Chairman on Media Committee, Enyinna Abaribe in his reaction to these statements said the Senate considered the calls for the President’s impeachment as “utter rubbish.”
