Chief Auyo said OBJ lacked the credibility to point accusing fingers at the President.
In a statement obtained by SundayTrust in Lagos last
week, he accused the former president of political gimmickry, wondering why he
couldn’t have made his grievances known to Jonathan in privacy or deliberate
the matter at the forum of former heads of states, instead of the public show
he made of it.
“The letter is nothing but to create political tension
in the country. With his calibre, Obasanjo should not be engaging in primordial
sentiments.
“The tenure of the former president was characterised
by fraud, intimidation and continued harassment of political opponents and even
members in the ruling party not on good terms with his administration. The EFCC
machinery, selective judgment and intimidation were the weapons he used,” part
of Auyo’s statement said.
The APC chieftain maintained
that the only way to reduce tension in the polity was for all Nigerians to
understand and appreciate one another, devoid of religious, political and
ethnic chauvinism.
