Niger State - A 46-year-old woman died today in the
office of Niger State Governor, Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu, after waiting for
several hours to see him.
The deceased was identified
as Hajiya Belkisu Mahmoud, a mother-of-three. She had to wait for a couple
of hours to see the Governor who was busy after the New Year break.
Eyewitnesses say that the
woman, who was allegedly suffering from asthma, was
immediately rushed to the Minna General Hospital. Unfortunately, she was
pronounced dead later.
Apparently,
Ms. Mahmoud was denied access to the Governor as her name was not on
the approved protocol list of those to see him.
There is no official
statement from the government yet, but Mr. Aliyu reportedly left the office
after the incident.
Doctors at the Minna
General Hospital refused to comment on the incident.
