NDLEA Arrests 39-Year-Old Congolese Woman with Fake $240,000 at Lagos Airport

Lagos - Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday, arrested a 39 year old Congolese woman with fake $240,000 (N40.8 million), hidden inside dictionaries, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos Nigeria.
 The suspect, Ms. Mfundu Angela, a fashion designer was apprehended while attempting to export the fake dollars to Congo Kinshasa through Cargolux Airline. Speaking on the arrest, NDLEA commander at the airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the seizure was made following reasonable suspicion on the consignment.

 “The suspect, who hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, brought a sewing machine and a bag containing clothes and five dictionaries for export to Congo. “There was high suspicion on the consignment and in the process of search, the dictionaries were found to contain 24 envelopes containing $10,000 each,” he said. The suspect, a divorcee and mother of two, said that the money was given to her by her boyfriend. Vanguard
