Photos: Shop Owners Stage Protest, Angry at FCT Minister

The Members of Association of Wuye Market Owners protested non-allocation of the shops to their members and imposition of payment of N5 million by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
Bala Mohammed despite the court order that directed the immediate allocation of the shops to the owners.
The street action took place in Abuja, near Utako Market, in the afternoon of January 2, 2014, Thursday.
The Association maintained that since 2002 when their shops got burnt at Wuse zone 1 near NNPC Mega Station, the authority of the FCT promised to relocate them to Wuye Ultra Modern Market in which they reneged.
“We were asked to pay N5million each before the shops would be delivered to us, this is exploitation in the highest order and we appealing to the Dame Patience Jonathan to come to our rescue,” an anonymous source of SaharaReporters revealed.
The protesters were carrying placards and chanted anti-Bala slogans, calling for the immediate allocation of their shops.
