London - Former
President Olusegun Obasanjo has re-assured Nigerians that he is still a
card-carrying member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite his
'stepping aside' from the party activities due to the internal
politics.
Obasanjo disclosed this statement when 'ambushed' by some journalists
at the end of the press conference preceeding the one year Anniversary Gala of
Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF) in London.
The
organisers of the press conference earlier warned journalists not to ask
questions outside OOF programmes for Africa. At the end of the press
conference, as the former President was leaving the main hall, a mild drama
happened between Obasanjo and 'news-hungry'
journalists.'Sir,what is your agenda for the future in Nigeria?"Obasanjo
replied:
"Please read my open letter once again to know
."'Your
Excellency Sir, we need to ask you if you're joining the APC anytime soon since
you're no longer a PDP member?"
Obasanjo
waited for some minutes to gather his thoughts and then responded:
"What
type of question are you asking me?I am still a card-carrying member of
PDP."
The
said journalist further provoked the former President Obasanjo to shed more light
on the latest developments within the party and to express his personal opinion
about the new PDP Chairman Muazu.
Obasanjo
responded with bottled anger in the presence of some of the OOF officials.
"Do
you understand English language at all? I am still a PDP member. Maybe you're
not feeling well for asking me such a question."
