The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and owner of
the Nation Newspaper, Bola Tinubu, has returned his own share of the N9
million received from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA,
through the Newspaper Proprietor Association of Nigeria, NPAN.
This is coming after the Sun Newspaper also surrendered its own share to the Federal Government and as the Punch Newspaper also suspended its membership from the association following its involvement in the arms scandal.
Recall that investigations from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had traced a suspicious transfer of funds from the former NSA, Sambo Dasuki to Newspaper outlets including Tinubu’s own Nation Newspaper.
Obviously embarrassed by the trend of events following the arms scandal, Tinubu may have pressed on his company directors to file an explanation and immediately return his own share of N9 million received.

“We are again compelled to comment on the N9 million received by Vintage Press Limited as compensation from the government of ex- President Goodluck Jonathan through the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) for the seizure of our publications, The Nation and Sporting Life in June, 2014.
“We do this for two reasons. First, to restate the sequence of events that culminated in the payment , thereby debunking insinuations about the motive for the compensation. Second, to inform the public that the N9 million collected from NPAN on behalf of the Jonathan government has been returned to the association .
“This decision was arrived at on Wednesday by the Board and Management of Vintage Press Limited after a painstaking examination of the legal and moral issues arising from the compensation.”

But this is the same cause Chief Raymond Dokposi was arrested before granted bail.
Would he have returned it if not for the anti corruption train, ndi oshi na ndi ama... God will fish all of you out
Football eyed men in corridors of power.
Go on ,steal and refund politicians. But ilove Buhari sha, even if has collected his own share now or in the past, one day he too will refund.
Good better than foolish Metal, palaye, yakusat etc that vowed not to return theirs
This does not say Tinubu collected any money!!!
Why do they collect the money at first?
The truth is out
Thief na thief Sha... But thank God you retured yours...
Thief na thief though but thank God he retured it
If you collect something from a thief you are also a thief, if a thief steal and sale it to someone and police caut him and if he show the other person that he sold it, police took them both to station, but why is this different?
Who lived in a glass house don't throw Stone. All of them are criminals but it's unacceptable ,African leaders are corrupt and also holding themselves not to progress
Thanks my oga you do a good one
It's says compensation for the seizure of The Nation Newspaper publications by Jonathan administration. Not a gift and not a bribe. Unfortunately the last regime only uses the allocation for other unrelated expenses thereby causing embarrassment for people involved. Who ever is accused, should refund and go back home. But you can't have the money, keep it or use it for selfish interests and expect people to turn blind eyes.
We need to be a little more analytical and meticulous the way we read info and the way we choose to understand them. The article never said Tinubu collected the money personally neither did it say he returned it personally he had a company which he doesn't run but has appointed persons to see to its running. You really don't expect him to have a full load down of every sum that comes in, and even if he does, the reason advanced is enough to accept the money. Of course if I offend my neighbour and take a plate of meal to him the next day in furtherance of an apology courtesy only demands that he accepts it. If however he discovers later that it was a stolen meal, he will do well to return it to those truly entitled to it which I what the man has done. My people, let's soft pedal with our criticisms these people are those we find to be our leaders. Not that they are the best or most righteous but we find them there and really, there's nothing much we can do about it at least not now ( without causing fracas) let's try to hear them out and give them a chance to clear the air on issues of public concern, while we contribute our own quota to national development and continue to pray for a better Nigeria. The journey may be far, chances may be slim, the path may be foggy, hope may be bleak, but I believe we'll get there someday, someday.
This unbelievable, bt thank god he has returned it, bt did he collected the money
I salute you Buhari, you are doing a great job. If not for him all this will not be known. Carry on sir, you will not die but love.
Nigerians are you sure this is not abracadabra
