US Female Teacher In Court Over Relationship With Her Student

A 25-year-old US teacher of English from Oklahoma high school was arraigned before court charged with the second degree r*pe, Huffington Post reports.

Monday, May 12, Kalyn Thompson turned herself in to the police and confessed to having a relationship with a 17-year-old student.
The woman, who resigned in April after having worked for less than a year at the school, reportedly started texting to the young man in December.

According to the police, as the communication continued, the messages took s*xual nature.

When interrogated, the student said they had s*x twice. While the age of consent in Oklahoma is 16, when the teacher as an authority figure is involved, such behaviour is punishable.

"It's sad because they're vulnerable to it, and obviously he's getting a good grade from it," said the detective investigating the case.

Which was actually true: although the victim showed bad performance in English last semester, he had 98 percent grade point average.

The information about the relationship between Thompson and her student surfaced in April, when the boy's mates saw Thompson in the victim's vehicle out of the school territory. The eyewitnesses took photos and reported the case to the school authorities. Soon the woman resigned.

The troubled teacher, whose professional career may have ended after the incident, bonded out of jail Monday and is likely to face a second charge.
