Six vegetable sellers which include a pregnant woman, a nursing mother and four others were all confirmed dead on Monday around 7a.m at the busy Apata market located in Ibadan South-West LGA, Oyo State, Nigeria.
These six persons meet their untimely death when a Power Holding Company of Nigeria high tension cable snapped and fell on them as they sell items below it.
Mrs. Olabisi Ilobanafor, spokesperson for the Oyo state Police command was at the incident scene and she confirmed the death of the six people and also said other survivors were receiving treatment in the nearby Garden of Eden Hospital Apata Ibadan, Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the busy Apata Market has been closed down temporarily to enable the PHCN officials to carry out repairs works on the snapped high tension cable.
