31 Armed Robbers, Kidnappers Nabbed In Delta

WARRI— Delta State Police Command said it had arrested 31 armed robbers and kidnappers in the last one week, while eight robbers sustained severe bullet wounds in a shoot-out with police and many guns and over 140 live ammunition recovered.
State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, who addressed newsmen at the end of a security meeting with the state governor, said: “Within the last two weeks, about 31 armed robbers and kidnappers have been arrested, eight of which were seriously wounded in a shoot-out with our men.”

He added that this year’s yuletide was better than that of last year in terms of security, noting that it was due to effective collaboration with neighbouring states police commissioners.
He said: “Delta remains a flash point in terms of crime. But it has now been reduced to a tolerable level within this year. We have 24 hours surveillance around the state.
“There is collaboration with other states. We are fighting cultists now because we will not tolerate it anywhere. We are appealing that people repent.”
He said local vigilantes have been effective in the battle against criminality, noting that he had planned a meeting with them (today) to commend them for supporting the police.
Aduba commended Deltans for being effective in giving relevant information to the police, which had led to the arrest and purging of the state of criminals.-Vanguard
