Accra - A 31-year-old Nigerian trader identified as Chika
Macillinus Umeugokwe, has been arrested by in Accra by Narcotics Control Board
(NACOB) for ingesting pellets of heroin.
He was arrested on
Saturday, January 11 shortly after his arrival from Pakistan and taken to the
NACOB headquaters where he reportedly expelled 69 pellets of heroin weighing
one kilogramme with a street value of $80,000.
According to the
Deputy Executive Secretary of NACOB, Nii Lantey Blankson, the suspect claimed
he had swallowed 77 pellets of heroin but vomited some in Pakistan before
setting off.
The
suspect will be arraigned after investigations.
