5. Free Press Awards for Journalists with Strong Commitment to Press Freedom 2019
Free Press Unlimited, a nonprofit organization based in the Netherlands, is accepting nominations for the Free Press Awards in 2019 for journalists worldwide.
Worth of Award: The winner in the category ‘Newcomer of the Year’ will receive a
media scholarship by choice. The winner in the category ‘Most Resilient Journalist’ will receive a
cash prize of €15,000. Winners in both categories receive an expenses-paid visit to the awards ceremony in November in The Hague, where the prices will be conferred in person.

6. $17,000 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability 2019
The National Center on Disability and Journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in the USA is accepting entries for the 2019 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability.
Worth of Award: Winners will receive a total of $17,000 in cash awards for first-, second- and third-place finishes in large media and small media categories. First-place winners in each category will be awarded $5,000 and are invited to the Cronkite School to give a public lecture in fall 2019. Unilever Global in partnership with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership invites applications for the Young Entrepreneurs Awards in 2019.
Worth of Award: All eight winners will be invited to an Accelerator Programme in Cambridge, before making their final pitches in person to a guest judging panel who will decide on the HRH Prize Winner of the 2019 competition. 9. AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards for coverage of the Sciences Worldwide 2019
American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Kavli Foundation invites applications for the Science Journalism Awards in 2019.
Worth of Award: In each category, there are now two awards: Gold, with a prize of $5,000, and Silver, with a prize of $3,500. The awards are presented each year at the AAAS Annual Meeting in February. Entrants agree that, if they win, they will attend the awards ceremony, unless prevented by circumstances beyond their control. The award includes reimbursement for travel and hotel expenses. In cases of multiple authors or producers, only one person’s travel expenses will be covered.
